Terms of Service

Gradient Weather is developed and published by Subtle Signals Ltd, a private limited company incorporated in England and Wales. References to "we", "us", or "our" in these terms refer to Subtle Signals Ltd.

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Gradient Weather Android application distributed through Google Play. They do not apply to any other Subtle Signals products.

Subject to your compliance with these terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Gradient Weather on Android devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or distribute the app or any part of it.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except where permitted by applicable law.
• Rent, lease, sell, or sublicense the app.
• Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any backend systems or APIs used by the app.

Gradient Weather offers an optional paid premium subscription ("Gradient Premium") that unlocks additional features including unlimited weather alerts, custom widget themes, and AMOLED display mode. A free tier is available with limited features and no subscription requirement.

All purchases are processed by Google Play. Payment is charged to your Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. Subtle Signals Ltd does not receive, store, or process any payment card or billing information. Google is the merchant of record for all transactions.

Subscription pricing is displayed in the app before purchase and varies by region and currency. Prices are inclusive of applicable taxes where required by law.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually) unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Google Play account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.

You can cancel your subscription at any time through the Google Play Store. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you will retain access to premium features until then. No partial refunds are issued for unused time in the current billing period, except where required by applicable law.

To cancel: open Google Play → Profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Gradient Weather → Cancel.

Where a free trial is offered, it begins on the date of subscription. If you do not cancel before the trial period ends, the subscription will convert to a paid subscription and your payment method will be charged. Only one free trial per Google account is permitted.

Refund requests for purchases made through Google Play are handled by Google in accordance with the Google Play refund policy. You may submit a refund request to Google directly. Subtle Signals Ltd has no authority to issue refunds; please contact Google Play support.

If you reinstall the app or switch devices, you may restore your existing subscription by tapping "Restore Purchases" in the app's paywall screen, provided you are signed in to the same Google account used for the original purchase.

Gradient Weather sources forecast data from third-party weather providers including Pirate Weather, MET Norway, and associated services. We do not generate, verify, or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any weather forecast, alert, or data displayed in the app.

Weather conditions can change rapidly and unpredictably. Subtle Signals Ltd expressly disclaims all liability for any loss, damage, injury, or harm arising from reliance on information provided by this app.

For safety-critical situations, always consult official guidance from your national meteorological authority (e.g. the UK Met Office, NOAA, DWD, or equivalent).

The app includes an optional community feature that allows you to submit anonymous emoji weather reports visible to nearby users. By submitting a report, you grant Subtle Signals Ltd a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to display that report (as an anonymised, aggregated data point) to other users of the app.

You agree not to submit reports that are false, misleading, abusive, or intended to disrupt the community experience of other users. We reserve the right to implement technical measures to suppress abusive submissions.

All submitted reports are automatically deleted from our servers within 24 hours of submission. We do not link reports to any personal identity.

The app, including its design, source code, graphics, icons, and all content created by Subtle Signals Ltd, is owned by or licensed to Subtle Signals Ltd and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws of England and Wales and applicable international law.

Third-party trademarks referenced in the app (e.g. Google Play, MET Norway) are the property of their respective owners.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Subtle Signals Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the app.

Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising under or in connection with these terms shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the total amounts paid by you to Subtle Signals Ltd in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) £10 GBP.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by English law.

The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We may suspend, withdraw, or restrict availability of the app at any time without notice.

Your use of the app is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms of Service by reference. By using the app, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the Privacy Policy.

The app relies on third-party services including Google Play Billing, Firebase Cloud Messaging, and third-party weather data providers. These services are governed by their own terms of service and privacy policies. Subtle Signals Ltd is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of any third-party service.

These terms remain in effect until terminated. We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the app at any time, without notice, if you violate these terms or applicable law.

You may terminate these terms at any time by deleting the app from your device. Sections 4, 6, 7, 8, 12, and 13 survive termination.

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we do. Where changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you via an in-app notice or the Google Play Store listing.

Continued use of the app after any changes to these terms constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not accept the changes, you should stop using the app and cancel any active subscription.

We may update, modify, or discontinue features of the app at any time. We will not remove features that are part of an active paid subscription without reasonable notice or a pro-rata refund offer.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence provide otherwise.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you may also have the right to refer a dispute to an alternative dispute resolution body under EU law. More information is available at the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform.
